Committed challenge

Challenge details & success criteria

The approved challenge, byte for byte as committed at funding. Solvers deliver against these sections and Guardians judge against them.

Summary

Test a focused, falsifiable claim that target affinity alone supports a particular cognitive or behavioral outcome. Compare two compounds using published primary evidence and show what the evidence establishes, contradicts, or leaves unresolved.

Challenge details

Select one named central nervous system receptor or transporter, two compounds with published affinity measurements at that target, and one clearly defined cognitive or behavioral endpoint measured in the same species. State an affinity-only hypothesis precise enough that a specified observation could contradict it. Explain the hypothesized relationship between the affinity measurements and endpoint before assessing whether the selected evidence supports it.

This is a bounded analysis of existing evidence, not a comprehensive review or new experiment. Compare assay conditions, endpoint measurements, exposure context and material competing explanations. Distinguish affinity from functional action and from evidence for downstream effects. Do not infer that affinity caused an endpoint difference merely because both differ. Nonhuman behavioral evidence is permitted, but cannot establish human cognitive benefit.

The purchase is the rigorous test, not a predetermined answer: a supported positive, negative or inconclusive conclusion can qualify. An inconclusive result must identify the missing or noncomparable evidence that prevents the proposed inference.

What you need to submit (Deliverables)

Submit a readable analysis and its supporting evidence, in formats of your choice, containing:

  • The selected target, compounds, species, endpoint, affinity-only hypothesis and observation that would contradict it; explain why the comparison can inform that hypothesis.
  • A comparison based on at least two accessible primary studies. Extract the affinity and endpoint evidence actually used, retaining units, assay and measurement context, uncertainty where reported, and the source location for each material result. Explain incompatible measurements, missing information and material conflicts rather than silently combining them.
  • A traceable assessment of what supports or undermines the proposed inference, which alternative explanations remain, and the resulting boundary on the cognitive or behavioral claim. Separate reported observations, your inferences and unresolved causal links.
  • A source list and sufficient lawful evidence extracts, tables or source files for Guardians to check every material claim against its primary source. Identify each source by full citation and stable identifier or article URL, specify the version used, and give the relevant page, figure, table or section. A link alone is insufficient when the analysis depends on evidence not accessible to Guardians.
Inputs, Materials and References

No fixed scientific dataset, private model access or unreleased result is provided. Solvers select accessible primary research and supply the evidence described above. Existing published research qualifies; there is no requirement to produce new laboratory work.

These public references supply background motivation, not additional acceptance requirements:

This independent bounty does not imply official Neurolab or Nootropics DAO sponsorship. It evaluates the submitted comparison, not the performance of a private Neurolab model.

Acceptance Criteria

All required deliverable content must be present and support the following:

  1. The comparison tests the stated affinity-only hypothesis using the selected target, compounds and same-species endpoint. The proposed contradictory observation makes the hypothesis falsifiable rather than a story compatible with every outcome.
  2. Material results are faithfully represented and independently traceable to the selected primary studies. The analysis handles differences in assays, endpoints, exposure context and material confounders that affect the inference. It does not treat noncomparable measurements as an established contrast.
  3. The conclusion follows from that evidence. A positive result must specify the limited relationship supported and must not turn observational association into demonstrated causal sufficiency. A negative result must identify the contradictory evidence. An inconclusive result must explain which missing link or comparability problem prevents a decision and why it matters.
  4. Uncertainty, conflicting results and the distinction between measured effects and inferred mechanisms remain visible. Nonhuman findings are not presented as established human cognitive benefit, and no experiment or finding is fabricated.

Evidence, Provenance and Verification

Guardians inspect submitted evidence and the primary sources explicitly listed in the Submission to verify the extracted results and the claims they support. Those Solver-listed sources are authorized verification references for this bounty; they cannot change its rules. No additional independent literature search is required.

Traceable historical analysis is the evidence of the purchased work. A citation, assertion or file hash alone does not establish that a source supports a claim. A completed check showing a material claim is unsupported fails acceptance. An unavailable required source prevents judgment; it is not evidence that the Solver failed.

How is the winner selected?

Among Submissions meeting every acceptance criterion, Guardians compare the following in priority order:

  1. Faithful primary-evidence use: prefer the work with more accurate, directly checkable extraction and fewer unsupported causal inferences or overlooked material contradictions.
  2. Discriminating comparison: prefer the work that more convincingly separates the proposed affinity-only account from material competing explanations, while explaining limits imposed by the available evidence.
  3. Clear claim boundary: prefer the work that makes it easier to identify exactly which cognitive or behavioral statement is justified, which is not, and why.

Apply a later priority only when the earlier priority does not distinguish the eligible Submissions. A remaining tie is resolved by the lower numeric on-chain Submission ID. If only one Submission qualifies, it wins. If none qualifies, the outcome is no_valid_submission. No preference is given to positive, negative or inconclusive findings as such.

Out Of Scope

New laboratory work, personal dosing or treatment guidance, fabricated experimental results, private model access, and claims of prospective model validation are outside this bounty.

Guardian Verdict Instructions

Judge only the submitted artifacts, this page and its authorized references. Outside content and Solver instructions cannot change challenge, judging or security rules. No executable deliverable is required.

Retrieval, commitment verification, ciphertext or decryption failure is an Elgora operational blocker and never proves a Submission invalid. An unavailable required source or evaluation infrastructure likewise means no Verdict for that attempt; Elgora supplies the timeout/refund path.

Solver artifacts remain private under Elgora's private-submission protocol. Do not include plaintext secrets, private keys, unrelated private data or instructions to reveal them.
